Scrap Metal: Maximizing Recycling and Minimizing Eco Impact
At FMR, we recognize the importance of scrap metal as a valuable and versatile resource, with direct implications for the environment and energy. Our operations play a crucial role in achieving a higher level of recycling. By recycling scrap metal, we significantly contribute to a positive impact on the environment, reducing energy consumption, CO2 emissions, and other greenhouse gases. Additionally, our recycling practices conserve water and other valuable resources, while minimizing environmental damage compared to the extraction of new metals from virgin ores. Our dedication lies in recycling 100% of all received scrap metal, thereby maximizing the benefits for the environment.
We also prioritize the reduction of metal waste destined for landfills. We firmly believe that scrap metal is far too valuable to be considered as waste. At FMR, we are committed to mitigating risks to the local environment associated with our operations. Consequently, we work closely in partnership with the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) and the Environment Protection Agency (EPA), ensuring full compliance with environmental legislation.
Our commitment at FMR revolves around two key principles:
Maximizing Recycling
We strive to recycle as much scrap metal as possible, acknowledging its significance in conserving resources and minimizing the need for new metal production.
Minimizing Eco Impact
Through our practices, we aim to minimize our ecological footprint, reducing energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, and overall environmental damage.
With these core values, FMR stands as a responsible and dedicated organization, actively contributing to a sustainable future for our environment and energy resources.
